Twelve travellers. Two departures each year.
January and late spring — the two seasons in which Egypt is at its finest and I am free to travel.
The Cataract
Cairo, Luxor, three nights under sail on a dahabiya, then Aswan and Nubia. The cool season, and the journey that goes deepest.

River to Reef
Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and three days on the Red Sea at Soma Bay. Warm months, concluding on the water.

The character of a departure
Travelling in company
Twelve people, capped
Not fourteen because two more asked. Twelve is the number at which a restaurant seats you without arrangement and a Nubian household receives you without the visit becoming an occasion.
Most travel alone
Roughly two-thirds of every group travels alone. If that describes you, you are in the majority rather than the exception.
Early starts, unhurried afternoons
At the sites before the coaches, and returned before the heat of the day. An unscheduled afternoon falls every third day, because heat accumulates.
Hosted departures are marked
I host selected departures from the airport to the final dinner. On the others you travel with the same Egyptologists, the same drivers and the same operating partner; the itinerary and the standard are unchanged.
